1.Bishop Basil Velychkovskyi (1903-1973) |

Pope John Paul II beatified the 25 new Ukrainian martyrs in Lviv on June 27, 2001 on his visit to Ukraine. The prayer below is adapted from the beatification ceremony.
By their prayers, through the Mother of God, preserve Your Church in great peace, O Most Merciful One. We glorify you, bishops, priests, nuns and laity, and we honor your true suffering, which you endured for Christ. Apostles, martyrs and prophets, holy, blessed and righteous, you accomplished great deeds and kept the faith. Having the courage to pray to the savior for us, ask Him, the Gracious One, to save our souls. Glory be to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and always and forever and ever. Amen. |

Servant-of-God Andrij Sheptytsky:
Prayer for the Beatification/Canonization O Lord, our God, in ages past You raised up Moses to unite and lead your people. In like manner You gave us your faithful servant, Metropolitan Andrij. Hear us as we pray that he be numbered among your saints. He has done your Holy Will and preferred Divine Wisdom to worldly riches. He cared for the poor and never wearied of his pastroal duties. He strove to bring peace and unity to your Church. Through his sacrificial life and prayers, have mercy on us and save us. For You alone are All Holy and without sin and we render all glory to You: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, now and always, and forever and ever. Amen. |

Prayer for the Beatification/canonization of the O Lord, save your people and bless your inheritance as we pray for your faithful Servants and Confessors who daily took up their own cross and followed You. They gave their lives for your flock and fulfilled your Holy Gospel. Look favorably upon their lives and good works and number them among your saints. Hear their prayers for us and through them, grant us forgiveness of our sins, strength in following only You and abundant grace for our salvation. For You are a gracious God who truly loves mankind, and we give all glory to You: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, now and always, and forever and ever. Amen. |
